This just in folks!
Sam Hodge has literally just been announced the new Political Affairs Director for CDA. Sam won with 575 votes (90%).
'Mandate' isn't quite the word for what Sam just received. Congratulations to Sam for a well-ran campaign. He is the right person, with the right ideas, at the right time.

Sam's Club: Buy in Bulk...
I could throw out some lame slogan like, "Join Sam's Club and buy leadership in bulk," but instead, I'll just ask for your support. Yesterday I added a donation feature to this website. In one night we've raised over $150.00 from progressive college students. My campaign is well on its way. We've got support from across the country, but I need your help.
As young people, actively engaged in politics, we have an uncommon, unique ability to persuade our friends, communities and leaders to our point of view. The upcoming CDA election is the beginning of our assault on the reactionary forces of the Right.
As Political Affairs Director, I'll lead the charge against the neo-conservatives that work tirelessly to marginalize and discriminate our communities. College Democrats are engaging the Right with a progressive agenda focusing on fairness, equality and responsible politics. Our voices, actions and vigor for politics will transform our campuses and our nation.
This week, I’ll be throwing the first fundraiser of my campaign. Congressman Russ Carnahan (D-MO) and Congressman Lacy Clay (D-MO) have both confirmed that they will be in attendance. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 at 6:00 PM at the Weiman Political Memorabilia Museum near Capitol Hill. They’ll be drinks, food and speeches!
Speak out today and donate to our campaign.

And the Big Mo' Builds...
It's hard to measure momentum. You can talk about how Sam's Facebook group has over 300 members and continues to grow. You can talk about how the outgoing Political Affairs Director, Kristin Fine has endorsed Sam. You can talk about the many, many other CDAers who have pledged their support.
You can talk about all those things, but it's still hard to measure momentum. It's more like a feeling, and right now I have a feeling that Sam is well on his way to becoming the next Political Affairs Director of CDA. Not only that, but I know that when he is installed in that capacity he is going to be a CDA rock star. I can't wait to see the transformational improvements that the CDA Caucus System will undergo with Sam at the helm. It's going to be awesome!

What a day! What a start!
Sam's candidacy for CDA Political Affairs Director has been public knowledge for right about 24 hours now, since the creation of his Facebook group - and what a 24 hours it's been! The group now has 204 members, including many national, state and chapter leaders, and he has received verbal support from many more. To point out the obvious, we're off to a great start.
I'm supporting Sam's candidacy for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that he is a guy who gets the job done, and this campaign is indicative of that quality. I'm excited to see what happens in the remaining weeks before Convention, because I have a feeling that it's going to be great.
If you would like to join the bandwagon and lend some support to Sam, please email him at SRHodge@gmail.com or myself at Mark.Buhrmester@gmail.com.
